Diesel Sports cars

Historically, diesel cars have always been known for their good fuel economy giving a reasonably high miles per gallon. Before the release of the turbo diesel, many of them were very sluggish and for that reason put a lot of people off, but adding a turbo to a diesel engine allowed it to still be economical but also have enough power to satisfy the average driver. Over recent years diesel cars have come on leaps and bounds. They are now often seen as the favourite choice even for drivers looking for something with a bit of poke. With diesel prices similar to that of petrol at present, diesel really is proving to be a good buy. If you are looking to buy a new or second hand car, then try...

Why do diesel cars cost more?

Diesel Performance Parts and Products random banner image
Diesel cars and vans usually come with a larger price tag than the equivalent petrol and also diesel fuel is often more to buy than petrol. This is because diesel cars tend to do more miles to the gallon than petrol and therefore push the purchase price up. Also diesel cars tend to last longer, i.e. many diesel cars will easily do 200,000 miles plus with no problem where as a petrol car is often coming to the end of its life at this stage. It may be that the car has gone in for an MOT and requires £400 or more worth of repairs to get it to pass when the car is only worth this; you then have the dilemma of knowing if you should scrap it or repair it. Often this comes down to whether or not you have the funds to buy another car immediately as many people cannot do without a car. If you are spending less than £2000 on a car then the chances are it will need work doing on it in the very near future. Sometimes it is worth spending money on a...

Putting the wrong fuel in your car

On a daily basis, hundreds of people put the wrong fuel in their car. Many cars have a cap fitted inside the fuel tank opening that will not allow certain nozzles to be inserted (making it virtually impossible to fill up with the wrong fuel type) but others do not have this therefore making it very easy to accidentally put petrol in a diesel or diesel in a petrol car. Doing this can cause great damage to the car and often it will need to be towed to a garage to repair it. If you realise that you have put the wrong fuel in your car as soon as you have done it, then do NOT start the engine. Often if the engine has not been started the fuel can...
