Some people dread parking their car. It may be that they are not very confident, that they have recently acquired the car or that it is a rental or new / looked after car and they are worried about it getting damaged.
You will often see (usually expensive cars) parked across two spaces in a supermarket car park for example, although the owners do it to try and prevent their car from being damaged this is selfish and you may find yourself lumbered with a parking ticket for doing so.
When finding a place to park, make sure that you are confident that you have enough room to park your car whilst allowing for the other people to get in and out of their vehicle. Parking too close to someone else is asking for trouble as they may have to open their door in to yours to get in their vehicle.
